A few of my favorite things…

December 13, 2024

Now that the sea of Black Friday/Cyber Monday emails has subsided, I thought I would join the fray with the 1st Annual Unbreakable Wealth Holiday Gift Guide.

No affiliate links, just stuff I love that I think you might too.

One of the things we focus on at Unbreakable Wealth is how to use your money to effectively create your dream life. It’s not about big spending, more about spending on the things that bring you joy (while perhaps saving on things that don’t). For me, these are the things that create a rich life.

We all know money can’t buy happiness, but the things on this list might get you pretty damn close.

Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica:

Starting the list off with a bang, the Huracan Tecnica is the last of the great naturally aspirated Lamborghini V10 models. With the arrival of the Temerario next year, Lamborghini has officially moved to an all-hybrid lineup. This means the Tecnica is a true piece of automotive history, and this stunning custom-ordered example will be an excellent addition to any connoisseur’s collection. Finished in extremely rare Bronzo Zante over Ad Personum Nero and Bianco Polar interior, this meticulous specification blends both class and originality.

So why would I sell such a beautiful car? I’ll do a full write-up soon, but the reality is that I am constantly evaluating and shifting how I spend money to live my best life. Supercar ownership has been a part of that life for over a decade, but over the last year, I’ve simply found that I’ve been dedicating my time elsewhere, and owning multiple cars isn’t bringing the joy that it once did. As a result, I’m paring down my collection to focus on other hobbies. As the great Alan Watts said, “You are under no obligation to be the same person you were five minutes ago.” This car deserves to be enjoyed and driven by a true enthusiast – if perhaps that’s you, let me know – special deal for newsletter subscribers.

Baby Bathwater Heli Adventure:

This trip is my annual non-negotiable. When it comes to a life well-lived, it is often said that experiences will always be more valuable than things. This trip is the embodiment of that sentiment for me. From the remote A-frame lodge, the wood-burning sauna followed by cold plunges in the frozen lake, to the big lines and epic pow, this annual pilgrimage is peak life points. Beyond just the sum of it’s parts, the tradition of the trip has started to represent something special within my life.

Whether it’s heli-skiing, surfing, or whatever it is that sparks your own sense of adventure, I find that having a tradition that I can look forward to year after year has brought a tremendous amount of richness to my life. So consider this your call to build your own unique tradition. Mix in a sense of adventure, some great friends, and voila – new life level unlocked.

Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 ‘Hot Lava’:

The 2024 edition of the Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 ‘Hot Lava’ brings back the iconic colorway of Andre Agassi’s signature shoe. Designed by Tinker Hatfield and originally released in 1990, this shoe was the epitome of cool when I was a kid. I know because I had them. A couple of years ago, I casually mentioned to my wife that I would love to find them again.

Little did I know, she was on the hunt. She found out that Nike was re-releasing them this summer, so she set an alarm to add to cart within seconds of their drop. I had no idea she was doing any of this, so when she surprised me with my childhood shoes I was completely blown away. Fellas, find you a partner who will take note of a casual comment and then spend an inordinate amount of time tracking it down. That’s the true gift in this case. And these are still the coolest shoes ever.

Who Says? – Joe Mechlinski

No gift guide would be complete without a book recommendation, and this one tops my list for this holiday season. Some days my younger self just has to laugh out loud because I get to count New York Times bestselling authors amongst my closest friends. Not only is Joe a wonderful human and someone whom I respect deeply, but this book is a breath of fresh air in the modern world of advice porn. It seems like every entrepreneur guru figures out what works for them, ignores other factors like luck and timing, and then sells you the dream via one-size-fits-all myopic hustle-based systems.

This book is an invitation to question everything, take all advice with a grain of salt, and blaze your own path. Joe writes with a rawness and humility that is as practical as it is refreshing. Do yourself a favor and curl up with a copy next to the fire this holiday season. You’ll be glad you did.

Veteran Solutions

Giving is an integral part of our holiday season, and I hope it is for you as well. For me, the most important factor to consider when giving is efficacy. I want my dollars to create the maximum impact for the beneficiaries, and VETS may be the most impactful organization I’ve ever come across. They are helping to end the veteran suicide epidemic by giving veterans safe access to clinically guided psychedelic therapy, a mission near and dear to my heart. I first came across Marcus and Amber’s work in 2016, on the cutting edge of the psychedelic resurgence. I wrote one of the first checks to fund their mission, before the organization even had a name.

What I couldn’t know at the time was how much access to this therapy would change my own life. You never know how much healing others might just help you heal yourself. Find an organization that aligns with your values. Even better if it is local or still small enough where you can see the results firsthand and feel the impact you are creating directly. And once you find that organization, give in any way that you can, whether it’s via time, treasure, or talent. Trust me, you’ll be better for it (not to mention the folks you are impacting.)

While I imagine you won’t be directly buying any of the gifts in this guide, I hope that it serves as an inspiration to find your own rich life gifts this holiday season. From experiences to impact, being intentional with our hard-earned money is foundational to a life well lived.

To your best holiday season yet,

Mb
